Basketball Sites

-Official Site of the National Basketball Association
Known simply as NBA.COM, this site needs no introduction. Over the years, NBA.COM has evolved, expanded, blossomed, branched, and improved, as it is truly a fan's dream come true. With up-to-the-minute (well, not quite) updates, statistics, standings, news, multimedia, player profiles, official team pages, exclusive features, contests, I can sit for hours poring over stats -- oh how I love stats and standings...I study them religiously. I do have a few problems with NBA.COM though: 1)Small photos, and they've switched to flash; 2) No more downloadable movies -- er, at least, not through the conventional way; 3) We now need to pay just to watch game highlights? Gimme a break. But all in all, this is the place for hoops fans to quench their thirst and soak up basketball goodness.

-Basketball-Reference.com
Comprehensive database of results, boxscores, stats, records, standings, rosters, etc. Very, very useful for referencing and researching purposes, and blows NBA.com out of the waters. If you ever need to know how many rebounds Kevin Garnett had in a particular game, you'll find it here.

-Database Basketball
Similar to basketball-reference.com -- comprehensive database of results, boxscores, stats, records, standings, rosters, etc. Very, very useful for referencing and researching purposes, and puts NBA.com to shame.

-Sports Illustrated Pro Basketball coverage
I visit here often, as part of my basketball resources. I enjoy the articles, photos, but that's about it. The pop-ups can be annoying.

-NBA Local Media Links
Here you'll find links to wealth of NBA information. Every team is listed, with its local media, press, newpaper websites. For example, Minnesota Timberwolves have the Minneapolis Star Tribune and the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

-ESPN NBA Coverage
Come here for stats, standings, articles, photos, recaps. You know the deal.

-SLAM Online
SLAM is my favourite basketball magazine. They churn out great issue after great issue. I used to suscribe, too. Now I buy the issues I really like, and just read the okay ones at magazine stands and bookstores. The website really doesn't compare to the mag, though there is some good stuff. For every issue, the website will put up exculsive wallpapers. There's also a message board, but it's kinda of a hostile territory. I posted there a lot during May 2003, after not posting for two and half years. The intelligent, knowledgeable posters have moved on, while the blatant idiots/spammers continue to plague the unmoderated message boards. Sports brings out all sorts of weirdos. What can you do.

-Busted Rim
An up-and-coming basketball site maintained by my boy, the H-Man. Covers all areas of basketball -- news, columns, gears, and forums. I contribute pieces and drop words from time to time, so y'all show some love. Site's still in its early stages, but give it some time, it'll blow up.

-Kicksology.Net: The Study of Phat Kicks for Your Balling Pleasure
This site offers really, really excellent information about all the big names shoes. From NIKE to ADIDAS, to AND1, to REEBOK, they have in-depth reviews about every release. The reviews are informative, helpful, and intelligent. Before you shell out 150 bucks for a pair of kicks, check out their reviews. They discusss everything from fit and comfort, to weight and design. Really great.

-Western Australia Michael Jordan Society (WAMS)
My man over at WAMS has got the greatest MJ site ever. With literally tons of rare, huge, hi-res, photo scans, scanned and retouched personally, this is the ultimate Jordan fan site. I am dead serious.

-Ultimate Peja
[EDIT: Site doesn't work anymore] The webmaster of this great Peja Stojakovic site was nice enough to e-mail me and link me. Check out his Peja site, with photos, stats, profile, history, and special information. I happen to have great respect for Peja as a shooter and as a great player. I certainly do think he's one of the best pure shooters in the NBA ... if not the best. He and Ray Allen. Tied.

-Mad Dog Mark Madsen
This is Mark Madsen's official site. He also has a blog. We all know "Mad Dog" for his boundless energy and hustle plays. He's the type of player that coaches, teammates, and fans love to have on their team. This is a site dedicated to Mad Dog, whose direct involvement with the site is limited mainly to Q&A. But the webmaster is personal friend of Madsen's, and he does a great job updating after every game, with post-game reports, photos, and movie clips. He was also kind enough to help me with some of my inquiries (many thanks, man).

-HoopAddicts.com
[EDIT: Doesn't work anymore] A very professional looking site with nice NBA coverage. It's got news and articles, as well as a huge forum for every team in the NBA. The webmaster dropped me an e-mail, and we've exchanged links. Check it out.
